August 3, 2013-The Reception

(sappy post and too many pictures continued....)
In between stuffing my face with food at the luncheon to greeting people at the reception we had our photo session. Picture after picture after picture... but we got some good shots and here are just a few of my favorites....

they are best buddies

whole lotta men
kiss tug-a-war

my nursing friends who became more like my family during the 2 years of nursing school

the idea was to make it look like they were photobombing my bridal

some of the kids I used to babysit back growing up in Helper. Not such a good feeling when the kids are now teenagers...
The reception started and I was amazed at how many people showed up to support us! Something that Russ and I had talked about from the day we got engaged and support started coming out of the wood works was how blessed we are! So grateful for those who came, many traveled from far distances just to let us know they were happy for us and we are loved. It was awesome! not to mention it was so fun to see people that we hadn't seen in a while and meet new people on Russ's side of the family/friends.
When it came time to cut the cake I had a plan that I had not informed Russ of (nor the photographer). Russ and I cut two pieces and as soon as he handed me mine to "feed to him" I shoved it straight in his face and took off running in the attempt I wouldn't get caked. He grabbed a piece and was quickly after me.

We didn't have a line, but we did stick with some "traditional" wedding things such as the bouquet toss and garter toss. My sister Channy caught the bouquet, and Russ's buddy Tyson caught the garter.

Russ and I danced to "God gave me you" by Blake Shelton for our first dance. Then my dad and I danced to "my little girl" by Tim Mcgraw, in which Russ and his mom joined in at the end.

I love the movie 8 seconds, in the movie there is a scene at Lane Frosts wedding where him and his best friend do this cowboy dance together. I always told Ash that my bro-in-law and future husband would do that at my wedding some day. Well guess what?... I'm blessed with some pretty amazing men in my family because my brothers, brother in law Jake, and Russ performed a version of that same dance and performed it at the reception! It was one of my favorite parts and I loved how it turned out.

The end of the reception was one big dance party! I had wanted line dancing at my wedding and we were lucky the barn had this cement pad (as seen in previous pictures) out the front side of the barn that was perfectly shaded. Russ's friends and ourselves had a dance that we did all the time driving around town and at home dance parties to "Call Me Maybe" that was off a YouTube video. Part of the dances included acting out that dance and it was awesome! Not to mention we did some serious Gangyam Style dancing! It was the perfect party and way to celebrate. I was so happy that everyone was good sports about it and joined in, as well as those who pulled up seats around the area to watch the dancing!

As it started to get dark people started dwindling away, I changed out of my dress and next thing I know we are one of the last ones to leave. Sounds strange that we had no big send off but as we started to walk to our getaway car I started to cry. I had held it in all day but as we got to the top of the hill I looked back at the barn and people were cleaning up and music was no longer blaring I looked at Russ and said "It's all over. Just like that our big day is over." Luckily I married a genius awesome man who held me and smiled as he said "no, It's just the beginning". Goodness I love that man!

Some wedding details pictures....
The sign in book aka entrance to the barn

The boutonniere's my mom made for all the menfolk! A little shotgun shell lovin' for the groom and the rustic look and colors choice for the bride :)

My dad is also very talented! He found this trough and made these signs with his wood burner on barnwood! We had all our favorite drinks in this for the reception including:capri suns, Dr.Pepper, Pepsi, lemonade, etc...
Our favorite cookies as well as our favorite red colored treats were also served at the reception alongside some of Russ's elk antler sheds.
The Barn had a small driveway that lead up to it off of the canyon road in Springville, and the owners had asked we didn't have cars driving up it trying to park and turn around so my dad made these cute fences and some more barn wood signs to block the entrance from vehicles.
My sister in law Jessica made signs to help direct traffic to the wedding, luckily Taylor's truck was tall enough to park by the barn's driveway entrance.
My mother in law Char made our wedding cake. It had layers of chocolate and carrot cake and from what little I had of it, it was delicious!
Luncheon details: we drank out of mason jars, used bandanna print napkins, surrounded by sunflowers and mason jars, not to mention pictures of the lovely bride and groom!

Our rings all tied up on the ring pillow! yes Russ's wedding ring is camo print, and yes he absolutely loves it!
Last but not least... Russ's best friend Rob killed himself a little over two years ago (it had been about a year and a half at the time of our wedding). They were best friends and Rob was the brother that Russ had never had. When we got engaged I had wanted to find a way to incorporate Rob in to our wedding. I found the picture of him I wanted, the saying I wanted and shed to represent how they met. Ashlee helped me by setting it up before the ceremony started. We saved a seat for him on the "groom's side" of the seating at the ceremony, in the first chair aka right in front of the groom. Long story short Russ was so excited that "I brought Rob" to our wedding, even though I think we'd agree he was present there in more ways than just an empty seat at the ceremony. During the reception we displayed the same display by the wedding cake.

It was the perfect classy redneck wedding and I'm so grateful and lucky that Russ picked me! Thank you again and again to everyone who helped make our day special, and everything we had hoped for aka BEST WEDDING EVER!!
